Jack Aitken Joins Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA for 2026 WEC Season
Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA has confirmed the signing of Jack Aitken for its 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) lineup. Aitken, the 2025 Petit Le Mans winner, will partner Earl Bamber and Sébastien Bourdais in the #38 Cadillac, taking over from Jenson Button, who retired from professional racing following the 2025 season finale in Bahrain.
Aitken, 30, transitions to JOTA after two successful seasons as a Cadillac factory driver with Action Express Racing in IMSA, where he notched multiple victories in the V-Series.R. His recent achievements include finishing second in both the 2025 IMSA Drivers’ Championship and the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.
JOTA Sport director David Clark highlighted Aitken’s compatibility with the team’s ethos: “Jack’s raw pace and consistency are essential for success in the Hypercar category. His understanding of our culture and expectations makes him a natural fit.” Aitken’s calm demeanor and team-oriented mentality were also noted as significant advantages.
The British-Korean driver participated in the Bahrain Rookie Test with JOTA, further preparing for his role. The team has opted for continuity, as the #12 Cadillac will see Alex Lynn, Norman Nato, and Will Stevens return after securing points in every race during the 2025 season.
Cadillac Racing program manager Keely Bosn emphasized Aitken’s potential, stating, “He brings exceptional speed and technical insight that complements the team.” The unified driver lineup aims to share performance and development across both IMSA and WEC platforms.
Aitken remarked on the opportunity, stating, “I’m excited to take what I’ve learned in IMSA and apply it here. JOTA has fantastic people and a history of success in WEC.” However, Aitken will prioritize the full IMSA season, missing the 6 Hours of Imola, which conflicts with the Long Beach IMSA round.
In 2025, Cadillac finished fourth in the WEC Hypercar Manufacturers’ Championship, achieving its first WEC victory with a 1-2 finish at Interlagos, with the #38 car recording multiple top-10 results under the previous driver lineup.
The 2026 season promises to be pivotal as Cadillac continues its push for championship glory with a renewed driver lineup and strategic partnerships.
