Cadillac and Chevrolet Claim IMSA Championship Titles at Petit Le Mans

Atlanta, GA – The IMSA season concluded dramatically at the Motul Petit Le Mans, where General Motors (GM) celebrated significant victories in both the GTP and GTD Pro categories. Cadillac, represented by Action Express Racing, clinched the Manufacturer, Team, and Driver championships, marking a historic 11th IMSA Manufacturers’ title.

GTP Championship Highlights

Lead driver Jack Aitken, driving for Cadillac Whelen, achieved his first IMSA series title in what has been an impressive third season as a prototype driver. Aitken’s championship was solidified through a relentless pursuit of excellence that culminated in eight consecutive podium finishes, with nine podiums in the last 11 races.

Dr. Eric Warren, GM’s Vice President of Global Motorsports Competition, emphasized the success of the ‘One Cadillac’ teamwork strategy initiated in 2025. “The consistency the Cadillac team has shown has been incredible. I couldn’t be more proud,” Warren stated.

Action Express Racing’s Chris Mitchum noted the importance of collaboration, acknowledging longstanding partnerships that contributed to their championship. “It truly is a one-team approach… I think we can always get better,” he said.

GTD Pro Championship Insights

In the GTD Pro category, Chevrolet secured their 16th Manufacturers’ Championship despite a challenging race. Corvette Racing’s Z06 GT3.Rs finished eighth and 12th, falling short in the battle for the Teams’ title. However, customer team DragonSpeed managed a commendable sixth-place finish.

Mark Reuss, GM President, praised the collective achievements, stating, “Both Cadillac and Chevrolet winning manufacturer championships shows the strength of our racing programmes.”

Future Aspirations

Both Aitken and co-driver Earl Bamber highlighted the potential for further achievements. Bamber noted the drive to secure a first Le Mans win, while Mitchum expressed ambitions to set an all-time record with an eighth Championship next season.

Conclusion

The successful campaigns by Cadillac and Chevrolet not only underscore GM’s racing prowess but also set the stage for a competitive future in international sports car racing. The achievements at Petit Le Mans reinforce the ongoing commitment to excellence across GM’s motorsport disciplines.
