FIA WEC 6 Hours of Imola: Leon Price Joins Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA
Imola, Italy – The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 6 Hours of Imola marks a significant return for Leon Price, who has taken on the role of sporting director and team manager for Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA. Price, son of renowned team owner David Price, steps into this pivotal position following a decade in Formula E.
Price’s journey in motorsport began in sportscar racing, influenced deeply by his father’s legacy. Reflecting on his career transition, he stated, “Sportscar racing is where I grew up… when I began to understand what he was doing… it became one of my all-time favourite cars.” His previous experience includes working on various high-profile projects, notably with Panoz and BMW, and contributing to the development of the pioneering hybrid racer, the Panoz GTR-1 Q9.
As he embarks on this new chapter, Price acknowledges the challenges ahead, particularly with the upgraded Cadillac V-Series.R. This season, the car features a comprehensive aero revision and a new Brembo braking system, aimed at enhancing its performance in the fiercely competitive LMDh category against manufacturers like Porsche and Ferrari.
“Relationship building for me is incredibly important,” Price emphasized, highlighting the necessity for strong cooperation within the team and with General Motors, particularly as pressure mounts for this second season as a factory team.
Having been involved in the final race of last season in Bahrain, Price is already familiarizing himself with the team dynamics. He expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming events, stating, “There’s an awful lot for me to learn, and very little time for me to learn it… I’m used to hard work and long hours, especially in the last few years.”
As JOTA looks to capitalize on its increased investment and performance upgrades, the upcoming 6 Hours of Imola could serve as a critical benchmark for the team’s aspirations in this high-stakes championship.
