Toyota Unveils TR010 Hybrid Ahead of 2026 FIA WEC Season
This week, Toyota officially unveiled the TR010 Hybrid, marking a significant update to its Hypercar lineup. The new model features a reimagined design compared to its predecessor, the GR010 Hybrid, with notable enhancements announced as the team gears up for the Qatar 1812KM, scheduled for March 26-28, 2026.
Design and Technical Changes
The TR010 Hybrid showcases an aggressive redesign, particularly at the front where Toyota Racing’s styling department has implemented a sleeker, squared-off nose with updated split headlights and a simplified aerodynamic configuration, including a single dive plane at each corner. This is in line with Toyota’s expanding aesthetic influenced by projects like the GR LH2 Racing Concept revealed last year.
Side profile variations are minimal, though alterations to the bodywork housing the illuminated number panels stand out. At the rear, the vehicle now sports redesigned tail lights and an enhanced rear wing structure featuring a second smaller element on the endplate, aimed at improving aerodynamic efficiency.
Preparation and Testing Insights
While Toyota has remained tight-lipped about technical specifications and performance metrics, preliminary feedback from testing has hinted at improvements over the GR010, although specific details are forthcoming.
Next Steps
The TR010 Hybrid is positioned to make its competitive debut in the upcoming FIA WEC season opener, where it will aim to continue Toyota’s legacy in endurance racing. Further updates are anticipated as teams finalize preparations for the opening round in Qatar.
