A2 Supercross Recap: Key Insights and Race Results
In Round 3 of the 2026 Supercross season at Angel Stadium, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Max Anstie faced a challenging night after a strong season opener victory. Anstie, who started in ninth place following a problematic start, managed to recover to finish sixth. He now sits third in the standings, trailing Haiden Deegan by nine points.
“It was a rough night,” Anstie reflected. “In the main event, I got shuffled back on the start… then I made one mistake in the rhythm lane – I nearly went over the bars. I regrouped and made it back to sixth, but I obviously would’ve liked to have been on the box.”
The results evoke memories of the previous season, where Anstie encountered similar hurdles. The mounting pressure raises questions about his ability to compete consistently amidst increasing competition.
Meanwhile, Levi Kitchen of Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki faced a disheartening A2 event. After qualifying in second, a crash during the heat race saw him execute a front flip, yet he remarkably finished fourth with a damaged bike. In the main event, Kitchen again found himself down in the first turn, taking longer to recover and ultimately retiring to the pits. Despite concerns over an arm injury, initial assessments indicated he will be fit for the upcoming round in Houston. With a lackluster start to the season, Kitchen is now likely to shift his focus to securing wins rather than the championship.
In a more uplifting narrative, Michael Mosiman, also with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, demonstrated resilience and skill. After overcoming a significant injury that once jeopardized his career, Mosiman took the holeshot in A2 and led until being passed by teammate Deegan, ultimately finishing second. With a series of solid finishes (5-3-2), Mosiman currently ranks second in points, just eight behind Deegan. Deegan praised Mosiman’s work ethic, noting, “He’s the only guy I really see out there … at the end of the day putting in extra work,” underscoring the competitive camaraderie within the team.
As the season progresses, the dynamics within the championship race are becoming more intricate, particularly with the forthcoming round in Houston.
