Hanley Motorsports Debuts in IMSA for 2027 Season with BMW Partnership
Hanley Motorsports Incorporated (HMI) will launch its inaugural campaign in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next season, partnering with BMW M Motorsport. The team, headed by owner Robert Hanley, emerges through a strategic collaboration with DXDT Racing and the acquisition of assets from multi-time IMSA champions Paul Miller Racing.
HMI will enter four cars across two series: two BMW M4 GT3 EVOs in the GTD Pro and GTD classes and two BMW M4 GT4 EVOs in the Michelin Pilot Challenge GS class. The team will operate from the former Paul Miller Racing headquarters in Buford, Georgia, while a new facility is being developed nearby in Flowery Branch.
Key Personnel and Structure
Team structure will include Mitchell Simmons, previously Team Principal at Paul Miller Racing, as Managing Director, along with Bryan Sellers, former Competition Director of DXDT Racing and a seasoned competitor with successful IMSA pedigree. Hanley emphasized the vision for HMI: “With the expertise brought by Dave, Mitchell, and Bryan, we believe we are aggressively building an organization that is capable of delivering sustained success at the highest level of sports car racing in North America.”
David Askew, founder of DXDT Racing, expressed optimism about the new partnership, stating, “This is such a great opportunity for all of us at DXDT Racing to grow and become something bigger than our initial foray into the IMSA paddock.”
Competitive Goals
HMI’s formation showcases a commitment to competing fiercely within IMSA’s competitive landscape. Simmons remarked, “Robert Hanley is assembling a super team for this push into IMSA for 2027 and beyond,” highlighting the strategic talent integration from Paul Miller Racing and DXDT.
Adam McGregor, BMW North America Motorsport & Customer Racing Manager, welcomed HMI, affirming that the partnership aligns with BMW’s legacy in motorsport. “They share the same drive for excellence on the racetrack that BMW Motorsport does,” McGregor said.
Further details, including driver announcements, are expected in the coming weeks as HMI gears up for its 2027 IMSA debut.
