British Grand Prix Qualifying Report
Silverstone, UK – Max Verstappen secured pole position for the British Grand Prix following an impressive qualifying session at Silverstone. The Red Bull Racing driver expressed gratitude towards rookie Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who assisted him with a tow during the session. “He helped me a little bit on my lap,” Verstappen said post-qualifying. “We’re gonna eat pasta together.”
This collaboration comes in the aftermath of a controversial incident at the Austrian Grand Prix the previous week, where Antonelli collided with Verstappen, resulting in both drivers crashing out. Commenting on the incident, Verstappen maintained a measured tone, stating, “Every driver has made a mistake like that … he’s a very big talent, so he learns from that and that’s all fine.”
Verstappen will start the race with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri alongside him in second place. The second row will feature British drivers Lando Norris and George Russell.
Discussing the challenges of qualifying, Verstappen noted the tricky wind conditions that affected the cars’ performance. “These cars are extremely sensitive to it. … We are quite quick on the straight,” he stated. He expressed optimism for race day, emphasizing, “We are going to go racing. We are going to have fun and try to do the best we can.”
With the race ahead, fans can expect an exhilarating showdown as Verstappen aims to convert pole position into victory at the historic Silverstone circuit.
