Barnicoat Set to Return for Watkins Glen GTD Race
Lexus GTD team Vasser Sullivan has announced that Ben Barnicoat will return to IMSA competition at Watkins Glen next weekend, following a full recovery from injuries sustained in a mountain biking accident.
The British driver missed three IMSA races—Sebring, Long Beach, and Detroit—as well as three rounds of the World Endurance Championship (WEC), including the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, due to his injuries.
Barnicoat will rejoin teammate Aaron Telitz in the No. 14 GTD Pro class Lexus RC F GT3 for the third Endurance Cup race of the season. After Watkins Glen, Barnicoat is scheduled to return to WEC duties with AKKODIS ASP at the 6 Hours of São Paulo in July.
In Barnicoat’s absence, Jack Hawksworth stepped in to compete at Le Mans on short notice, demonstrating the team’s flexibility in maintaining competitive performance.
