Bryan Herta Autosport Eyes Genesis GTP Partnership
Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) is positioning itself as a contender for a partnership in the upcoming Genesis GTP program, following its successful tenure in the TCR series. The team has announced plans to enter LMP2 racing next year in collaboration with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports, marking a strategic shift toward prototype racing.
Herta expressed his enthusiasm for the Genesis GTP initiative, stating, “I’m not shy about saying we’ve got great interest in the Genesis GTP program, and it’s certainly something we’ve discussed with them, and they’re aware of our interest.” He emphasized that the LMP2 entry is designed to pave the way for potential involvement in GTP, although he acknowledged the uncertainties ahead.
“This is a direction for our team that we want to go,” Herta continued. “It’s a chance for us to grow our program and gain WeatherTech experience. We aim to establish the necessary foundations to compete across any class within the IMSA paddock.”
In related developments, the Genesis GMR-001 LMDh car recently completed its first endurance test at the Algarve circuit in Portugal. The vehicle is slated to make its FIA World Endurance Championship debut in Qatar next year, as Genesis prepares to enter the higher echelons of prototype racing.
