Pfaff Motorsports Unveils Lamborghini Temerario GT3 at Daytona Test Session
The No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Lamborghini Temerario GT3 made a promising debut during its first outing at Daytona International Speedway, successfully completing 134 laps over the weekend. This initial test featured Lamborghini Squadra Corse factory drivers Andrea Caldarelli and Marco Mapelli, with Franck Perera yet to drive the car.
Caldarelli expressed enthusiasm about the car’s U.S. debut, stating, “It feels good! It’s nice to finally bring this car to the U.S.” The Temerario GT3 previously tested at several European circuits, including Misano, Imola, and Circuit Paul Ricard, but this marked its first run on Michelin tires, in contrast to the Pirelli tires used during prior testing.
The team reported no red flags during the initial sessions, with Caldarelli noting, “We didn’t have any problems. We ran all the runs we wanted to do.” Looking ahead, he emphasized the need for further setup and balance adjustments, particularly in adapting to the Michelin tires.
Saturday’s four-and-a-half-hour afternoon session included significant time spent stationary as Pfaff Motorsports implemented a comprehensive setup change. This adjustment comes as the team transitions from the V10-powered Huracán to the new twin-turbo V8 platform, which Caldarelli remarks requires “a different driving style” but retains a sense of familiarity after initial laps.
After the Daytona test concludes, the team will head to Sebring International Raceway for an endurance test in preparation for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours, where the car will make its official racing debut. Caldarelli looks forward to the opportunity, stating, “It’s definitely the hardest track for the car that we can see… it’s going to be interesting to see how the car is going to react next week.” A fourth driver for the Sebring event has yet to be announced.
