Connor Zilisch Joins Cadillac Whelen Team for 2024 Rolex 24 At Daytona
Daytona Beach, FL – Connor Zilisch, the reigning LMP2 class winner at the Rolex 24, will compete for overall victory in the 64th annual Rolex 24 At Daytona, scheduled for January 24-25, 2024. The 18-year-old has been added to the entry list for Cadillac Whelen (Action Express Racing) and will participate in both the race and the upcoming Roar Before The 24 test.
Zilisch will partner with seasoned drivers Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber, and Frederik Vesti in the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R, a vehicle he first tested during the November IMSA Sanctioned Test at Daytona International Speedway. Additional testing was conducted at the Circuit of the Americas earlier this month, with further testing scheduled January 15-17.
“I’m excited to be with Action Express Racing for the Rolex 24 at Daytona,” Zilisch acknowledged. “The Rolex 24 is one of my favorite races, and I’m thrilled to be with one of the best teams in the IMSA paddock. I’m very thankful to everyone at GM and Cadillac Racing for their help in making this happen.”
Zilisch is set to make his full-time NASCAR Cup Series debut in February with No. 88 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet. He expressed ambitions for the future, noting, “Hopefully, we’re going to make the most of it and see if this can lead to more opportunities for me in the Cadillac because it would be super cool for me to be able to race at the highest levels of endurance racing.”
As Zilisch prepares for this crucial race, the automotive community eagerly anticipates the potential impact of his performance on his burgeoning career in motorsports.
