MXGP 2027 Calendar Update: Key Changes Confirmed
MONACO, Principality of Monaco – Infront Moto Racing, in collaboration with the FIM, has officially updated the 2027 FIM Motocross World Championship calendar, confirming two significant changes.
Águeda Retains Iconic Status
The MXGP of Portugal will return to the legendary Águeda circuit on May 22-23, marking its 28th World Championship event. Águeda, renowned for its orange hard-pack terrain and a passionate fanbase, first hosted a Grand Prix in 1985. Notable recent winners include Pauls Jonass, who secured his first overall victory there in 2024, and Lucas Coenen, who dominated in 2025. Record-holder Jeffrey Herlings leads the venue’s victory tally with six wins, followed closely by Antonio Cairoli (five) and Stefan Everts (four).
Spain’s New Identity
Additionally, the second Spanish round of the season will now be referred to as the MXGP of Extremadura, taking place in Mérida on April 18. This change highlights the region’s rich cultural heritage and growing enthusiasm for motocross. It follows the season opener in Andalucía on February 28, ensuring Spain remains a vital component of the 2027 championship.
These updates reflect the ongoing evolution of the MXGP series, reinforcing its commitment to iconic venues and regional representation.
