Phoenix Racing Honda Signs Avery Long for 2027 SuperMotocross Season
Salisbury, N.C. — Phoenix Racing Honda has officially announced the signing of Avery Long to its 2027 SuperMotocross roster. Competing in the 250 class across AMA Supercross, Pro Motocross, and SuperMotocross, Long will ride the CRF250R, bringing a wealth of amateur accolades and two years of professional experience.
Long, who secured the AMA Amateur Rider of the Year award in 2022, has established himself in the 250 division with consistent top-ten finishes. In 2026, he faced health challenges, but he demonstrated significant speed, suggesting his potential for further success.
David Eller, Team Owner of Phoenix Racing, expressed enthusiasm about Long joining the team: “Avery’s talent goes beyond his on-track performance. His character and background align perfectly with our goals at Phoenix Racing. We aim to provide him with the necessary support to elevate his career.”
For Long, this transition marks a strategic move back to a familiar brand, having previously raced Honda motorcycles as an amateur. “Joining Phoenix Racing Honda is an exciting opportunity,” Long stated. “I’m eager to build on my experience and aim for consistent top-five finishes in 2027.”
As Phoenix Racing gears up for the upcoming season, Long’s recruitment is a vital step in bolstering their 250 program. The team’s focus is on enhancing rider development through robust technical support. Long will make his debut with the team at the Tampa event, as both rider and team aim for continued progress throughout the season.
Gary Schlentz, Team Manager, emphasized Long’s potential, noting, “His determination and work ethic make him an ideal fit for our plans in 2027. We believe we can provide the right environment for him to thrive.”
