Ruben Fernandez Parts Ways with Honda HRC PETRONAS After Four Strong Seasons
Ruben Fernandez has concluded his tenure with Honda HRC PETRONAS, marking the end of a notable four-year collaboration. The Spanish rider, who joined the team in 2023 following a strong performance with Honda 114 Motorsports, quickly made his mark in the MXGP series.
In his debut season, Fernandez clinched victory at the MXGP of Argentina in Villa La Angostura, followed by podium finishes in Spain, Germany, and Italy, ultimately securing a fifth-place finish in the championship standings. The 2024 season proved challenging due to injuries, limiting him to just four GP appearances. However, he rebounded in 2025, finishing fourth overall and achieving three podium placements.
Fernandez continued to demonstrate competitive prowess in 2026, contributing additional podium finishes and consistently battling within the top ranks of the highly competitive MXGP field. Unfortunately, an early-season crash in Turkey cut his season short, hindering his pursuit of another top-five championship finish.
Honda HRC PETRONAS expressed deep appreciation for Fernandez’s contributions and noted his positive impact both on and off the track, wishing him success in his future endeavors for 2027 and beyond.
