Asian Le Mans Cup Set for Competitive Season
The upcoming Asian Le Mans Cup is primed for a competitive season as several teams announce their driver line-ups, highlighted by the debut of 16-year-old Pipo Massa, son of the famed Felipe Massa. Pipo will race for 23Events Racing, piloting the #19 Ligier JS P235 – Toyota in this inaugural season. Massa is transitioning from the Porsche Cup series in Brazil, partnering with fellow rookie Grant Mitchell, formerly of USF Juniors. Their team also includes the #50 entry driven by Colin Queen and Giovanni Maschio, who previously captured Michelin Le Mans Cup race victories.
Both 23Events Racing Ligiers will contest in the LMP3 Pro category after a challenging 2026 season where Queen and Maschio finished fifth in the LMP3 Drivers’ standings, despite leading the standings at the start of the season with a victory at Circuit Paul Ricard in May.
CLX Motorsport is set for a three-car campaign in the Asian Le Mans Cup, featuring three Ligier JS P325 – Toyotas. João Vergara and Lucas Fecury will debut in the #17 LMP3 Pro entry. Vergara previously competed in the USF2000 Championship, while Fecury has LMP3 experience from both the European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup. The #86 entry will be shared by Terrence Woodward and Vic Stevens, while 2026 LMP3 standout Louis Iglesias teams with newcomer Laurent Wuthrich in the #87 entry. The season opens with two-hour races at Circuit Paul Ricard on November 14-15.
Additionally, Eric de Doncker and Gillian Henrion, fresh off their second consecutive Michelin Le Mans Cup LMP3 Pro-Am title, will return with the familiar #98 Ligier JS P325, continuing their pursuit of success in the Asian Le Mans Cup. Motorsport98 is also exploring the possibility of entering the 2027 European Le Mans Series.
The stage is set for an intriguing season as teams finalize preparations for the opening round.
