Dilan Schwartz Injured in Houston SX Qualifying: Race Status Update
In a significant turn of events at the Houston Supercross, Dilan Schwartz sustained injuries during the second qualifying session for the 250SX class. The #42 rider crashed while attempting to improve his lap time, leading to a red flag as medical personnel attended to him.
At the time of the incident, Schwartz was positioned in the top 18, qualifying him directly for the night’s Triple Crown races. His misfortune allowed Keegan Rowley, who finished fifth in the 250SX Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ), to secure a spot in the main event—Rowley’s debut at this level.
The Toyota Redlands BarX Yamaha team issued a press release confirming that Schwartz suffered a broken rib and two vertebrae but has retained full feeling and movement. His potential return is optimistic, with a target for the 250SX East/West Showdown on March 21.
The team noted: “The impressive speed Schwartz has shown all season was once again present in Houston. Unfortunately, he crashed hard, bringing out a red flag and stopping the session. After medical evaluation, the prognosis remains positive considering the severity of his injuries.”
Team Manager Bradley Taft remarked, “It’s a huge bummer for Dilan and the team to lose our most experienced rider. The good news is it’s a best-case scenario given the severity of his injuries. He will likely miss the next two races but could potentially return for the East/West Showdown in Birmingham in March.”
As the season progresses, Schwartz’s recovery will be closely monitored by the team and fans alike, given his significant contributions thus far.
