2026 Monster Energy Supercross Season Preview: Key Updates and Initial Lineups
As the countdown to the 2026 Monster Energy SMX World Championship and the inaugural round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross nears its end, anticipation builds ahead of the opening event on January 7 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. With just 22 days remaining, the focus is shifting to confirmed and potential rider lineups for the 250SX classes.
Both the 250SX West and East Divisions will feature ten rounds this season, including three East/West Showdowns for the second consecutive year. The 250SX East Division will kick off with the Arlington SX at AT&T Stadium on February 21.
Key Rider Updates:
- Julien Beaumer, the only contracted rider for his team in the 250SMX class, is out for the entire supercross season due to an injury sustained during the SMX Playoffs 1 in September. The team has opted not to pursue a fill-in rider.
- Chance Hymas is set to transition from 250SX East to 250SX West for the coming season, marking a notable change in his racing strategy.
- Jo Shimoda’s status remains uncertain as he is likely to miss a significant portion of the supercross season due to a back injury sustained in November. He was not listed under the 250SX designation in the 2026 team announcement, and no fill-in rider will be appointed.
Further updates on entry lists and other developments will follow as the season approaches. Stay tuned for ongoing coverage of the 2026 Monster Energy Supercross Championship.
