Hocevar and Nemechek Advance to NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro
North Wilkesboro, NC – Carson Hocevar and John Hunter Nemechek secured their spots in the NASCAR All-Star Race following strong performances in the All-Star Open. Hocevar dominated the event, leading 46 of 100 laps after gaining position off pit road during a competition caution.
"Winning is significant for this team," Hocevar stated. "We faced challenges with tire management, and while the car needs improvement, we were still competitive. We’ll leverage our notebook to advance in the All-Star Race."
Nemechek finished the Open in second place, overtaking Bubba Wallace on lap 90 to solidify his spot in the main event. He expressed excitement about the upcoming opportunity, emphasizing the potential for success. "We know we have a shot to win a million dollars," Nemechek remarked. "The effort from the No. 41 team paid off, and our strategy worked well under pressure."
Despite finishing 17th due to a power steering issue, Noah Gragson clinched the fan vote for the third consecutive year, ensuring his participation in the All-Star Race.
Shane van Gisbergen led the Open for the first 55 laps but lost position after opting for four new tires during a pit stop, finishing outside the top three. The race saw a pivotal moment when Ryan Preece was penalized for overstepping the choose box, relegating him to the back of the field after initially running second.
The results of the All-Star Open concluded with Hocevar placing first, followed by Nemechek, Ty Dillon, Erik Jones, and Michael McDowell rounding out the top five.
