Kurt Busch Named Grand Marshal for The Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway
Pocono, PA – NASCAR Hall of Famer Kurt Busch has been appointed as the grand marshal for The Great American Getaway 400 presented by VISITPA.COM, scheduled for June 22, 2024, at Pocono Raceway. Busch, who will issue the legendary command to start engines, is a three-time winner at the track, known as "The Tricky Triangle."
Pocono Raceway President Ben May expressed pride in celebrating Busch’s illustrious career during race weekend. "Kurt’s presence honors his significant contributions to NASCAR," May stated.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro will serve as the honorary starter, waving the green flag to kick off the race festivities. Busch, a former champion, stepped away from full-time competition after a head injury during the 2022 Pocono Cup qualifying.
In a recent update on his recovery, Busch reported considerable improvement. "It was taxing for a while, but I’ve progressed through therapy and visits with various specialists," he told Racer.com. "While I still feel some lingering effects, I’ve received outstanding support from my medical team."
The Great American Getaway 400 will commence at 2 p.m. ET, following practice at 12:30 p.m. ET on June 21 and qualifying at 1:45 p.m. ET.
