NASCAR Truck Series Inspection Drama at Kansas Speedway
During pre-race inspections at Kansas Speedway, the NASCAR Truck Series witnessed notable issues as four teams, primarily from ThorSport Racing, faced inspection challenges. The affected trucks were the No. 99 Ford piloted by Ben Rhodes, the No. 98 Ford of Ty Majeski, the No. 88 Ford driven by Matt Crafton, and the No. 26 Chevrolet of Dawson Sutton from Rackley W.A.R. Each truck failed inspection twice before ultimately passing on their third attempt.
As a consequence, all four teams will incur penalties, including the loss of pit stall selection for next week’s race at North Wilkesboro. Additionally, the truck chiefs—Brad Means (No. 98), Derek Rohlfing (No. 99), Tyler Kontos (No. 88), and Tucker Scanlon (No. 26)—have been ejected for the remainder of the weekend, in accordance with protocol for multiple failures.
ThorSport Racing, recent champions in the series, is still seeking its first victory of the season despite entering their strong line-up, which includes Luke Baldwin’s No. 66 truck that passed inspection without issues.
Update on Cup Series Penalties
In parallel developments, two teams from the NASCAR Cup Series also faced inspection issues. The No. 45 Toyota of Tyler Reddick from 23XI Racing and the No. 34 Ford of Todd Gilliland from Front Row Motorsports each failed twice before making the necessary corrections. Both teams will face penalties similar to those issued in the Truck Series, losing a crew member and pit stall selection for the Kansas race.
This underscores ongoing challenges around pre-race compliance in the NASCAR circuit, as teams strive for competitive readiness while adhering to strict inspection protocols.
