NASCAR and Amazon Prime Video Set to Release "American Thunder: NASCAR to Le Mans"
NASCAR, in partnership with Amazon Prime Video, will debut the documentary "American Thunder: NASCAR to Le Mans" on June 12, available in over 240 countries and territories. This documentary chronicles the ambitious Garage 56 project, which saw a NASCAR vehicle compete in the grueling 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The film details the 18-month transformation of a Hendrick Motorsports race car, originally designed for 500-mile oval tracks in the U.S., into one capable of enduring the 24-hour endurance test at the famed Circuit de la Sarthe. Key figures featured include NASCAR Chairman and CEO Jim France, Hendrick Motorsports founder Rick Hendrick, Vice President of Competition Chad Knaus, and drivers Jenson Button, Jimmie Johnson, and Mike Rockenfeller, alongside NBC Sports commentator Nate Ryan.
Produced by NASCAR Studios and directed by Brad Lockhart, the documentary boasts an executive production team that includes Jeff Gordon from Hendrick Motorsports and NASCAR executives Tim Clark, John Dahl, Amy Anderson, Tally Hair, and Matt Summers.
The trailer for this highly anticipated release has been made available, offering a sneak peek into the groundbreaking venture that bridges the gap between American stock car racing and European endurance racing traditions.
