GT2 European Series Heads to Misano for Key Mid-Season Races
The GT2 European Series, powered by Pirelli, is set to resume its season at Misano this weekend, marking the fourth round of six double-header events in 2025.
Pro-Am Division
In the Pro-Am category, Bronek Formanek and Stefan Rosina of Mičánek Motorsport, driving the #11 Lamborghini, demonstrated dominance with a clean sweep at Spa-francorchamps, clinching two victories from pole position and achieving the fastest laps in both races. This success has propelled them to a substantial 47-point lead, positioning them to potentially secure the championship at the subsequent round in Valencia with a strong showing at Lamborghini’s home circuit.
DINAMIC Motorsport remains competitive, securing podium finishes at Spa. Drivers Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia are the only Pro-Am crew to defeat Mičánek this season and will aim for another upset this weekend.
RTR Projects achieved its best results thus far, with Davit Kajaia and Mato Homola finishing third and second, respectively. Debuting Kajaia exhibited strong performance, and the team aims to capitalize on this momentum.
The NM Racing Team, featuring Alberto de Martin and Nil Montserrat in the #115 Mercedes-AMG, secured solid points but fell short of race-winning momentum seen early in the season.
Two new entrants will join the Pro-Am ranks at Misano, both fielding Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2s. ART-Line will field the #12 car for Shota Abkhazava and Egor Orudzhev, while DL Racing will compete with Diego Locanto and Luca Segù in the #72 entry.
Am Division
In the Am category, Philippe Prette leads the standings with four wins out of six races in the #1 LP Racing Maserati, though challenges remain as competitors attempt to close a 26-point gap.
Akkodis ASP, with Pascal Gibon and Christophe Bourret in the #53 Mercedes-AMG, has been consistent, achieving six consecutive podiums, including four second-place finishes. A win at Misano could significantly amplify their championship bid.
Meanwhile, RTR Projects celebrated its first victory of the season in Race 2 at Spa, with drivers Petr Lisa and Viktor Mraz showing promising potential, while LP Racing’s #88 Audi, now in the Am class, will feature Stéphane Ratel making his season debut.
The Iron Cup championship battle will also unfold at Misano, with four crews eligible: Pampanini/Calamia, Gibon/Bourret, De Martin/Montserrat, and Lisa/Mraz.
