Pirelli GT4 America Championship Heads to Indianapolis
The Pirelli GT4 America Championship will reach a thrilling conclusion this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, coinciding with the SRO Intercontinental GT Challenge and GT World Challenge America finale. The double-header format includes Race 1 on Saturday at 10:00 AM ET and Race 2 on Sunday at 10:25 AM ET.
A competitive field of 34 entries features nine Silver class contenders. The standout team has been the #028 RS1 Porsche 718 GT4 RS Clubsport, piloted by Luca Mars and Spencer Pumpelly, who have dominated with seven straight class wins this summer, including double victories at Sebring and a win at Road Atlanta.
Challenging the leaders are the #68 RAFA Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 driven by Tyler Gonzalez and Westin Workman, who are aiming to close a 35-point gap and require wins in both races combined with a stroke of bad luck for the RS1 drivers. Another potential spoiler is the #7 ACI Motorsports Porsche of Yves Baltas and Trenton Estep, who recently secured a class win at Barber Motorsports Park.
New entries include CSM’s #007 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo and a unique all-women’s team from Kellymoss, featuring Ashley Freiberg and Loni Unser. Kellymoss will also field the #73 Porsche with Erika Hoffmann, partnered with seasoned GT4 driver Eric Filgueiras.
In the Pro-Am category, 12 entries vie for the title, led by Random Vandals Racing’s #94 BMW M4 GT4 EVO, which boasts a total of six victories this season. Sam Craven leads the Driver’s standings by four points over Kenton Koch, who has raced sparingly this season.
The #33 Blackdog Racing McLaren Artura GT4, driven by Tony Gaples and Michael Cooper, holds a distant chance to clinch the championship but requires a perfect performance and significant assistance from competitors.
Notably, the Am class features actor-turned-driver Frankie Muniz in the #30 TechSport Racing Ford Mustang GT4, who leads the standings by a single point. Muniz and Tyler Stone have won three of the last four races, placing them firmly in the hunt for the championship in their inaugural season.
Rounding out the Am competitors are 12 entries, including the #36 BimmerWorld BMW and the #21 ACI Motorsports Porsche, both in contention for the title.
The Indianapolis race weekend promises high-stakes competition as teams and drivers seek to secure their championships in the season’s grand finale.
