Lamborghini Prepares for Temerario GT3 Debut at Sebring 2026
Lamborghini’s eagerly anticipated Temerario GT3, powered by a twin-turbo V8, is set to make its competitive debut at the 2026 Sebring 12 Hours. Intended as a successor to the successful Huracán GT3, the Temerario represents the brand’s first project developed entirely in-house.
Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer, noted that the 2026 season will be a transitional phase for the manufacturer. “Production will be limited to around 10 cars initially due to high demand for the street version and shared assembly capabilities,” he stated. This cautious approach reflects Lamborghini’s commitment to ensuring the car’s competitive readiness.
The development process remains ongoing. Mohr highlighted that extensive work is needed on tire performance, aerodynamic balance, and suspension tuning. “Competition is where you truly learn about the car,” he emphasized, acknowledging the challenges in meeting competitive standards right out of the gate.
Current on-track testing is underway, with plans for participation in IMSA’s annual winter test at Daytona. However, a world debut at the Daytona 24 Hours has been ruled out, with a focus now set on Sebring.
“The Temerario will likely compete alongside Huracán GT3 customer teams, allowing us to gather valuable data,” Mohr explained. While Lamborghini has yet to finalize its championship participation strategy, Mohr assured that partnerships would be prioritized based on organizational synergies and developmental gains.
Despite aspirations for involvement in LMGT3 competitions, Mohr expressed the realities of grid limitations in the FIA World Endurance Championship, stemming from recent regulatory shifts. He affirmed, “Winning races is our priority, but we need the right car to compete successfully.”
As Lamborghini approaches the 2026 season, the Temerario GT3 symbolizes both a significant evolution in their racing strategy and a serious commitment to that goal.
