IMSA Unveils 2027 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Calendar

IMSA has officially announced the calendar for the 2027 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, maintaining continuity with the 2026 schedule. The series will visit the same venues, race lengths, and classes as in the previous year, with a notable adjustment: the season opener, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, has been shifted to January 28-31, 2027, commencing one week later than originally planned.

The “Roar Before The 24” will precede the Rolex 24, taking place from January 22-24. The 75th 12 Hours of Sebring is set for March 17-20, followed by sprint rounds at Long Beach (April 16-17) and Laguna Seca (April 30-May 2). The calendar features additional events at Detroit (June 4-5), Watkins Glen (June 24-27), and a return to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on July 9-11, where LMP2 will headline.

The championship retains certain venues under the Michelin Endurance Cup, including Road America (July 29-August 1) and the finale, the 10-hour Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, now scheduled for October 6-9—one week later than previously set.

IMSA has also announced plans to implement expanded sanctioned testing before each Michelin Endurance Cup event, exclusively for WeatherTech Championship teams.

“Announcing our schedule this early is a testament to the stability of our events,” stated IMSA CEO Ed Bennett. “Nearly all of our events have seen year-over-year attendance increases.”

IMSA President John Doonan emphasized the importance of collaboration with other sanctioning bodies to minimize date conflicts, noting that the 2027 calendar honors several milestones: the 75th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, the 70th anniversary of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and the 30th running of the Motul Petit Le Mans.
