IMSA Prepares for Monterey SportsCar Championship at Laguna Seca
Laguna Seca, California — The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) has unveiled the provisional entry list for the upcoming StubHub Monterey SportsCar Championship, scheduled for next weekend. A total of 34 cars are set to participate in the two-hour, 40-minute race, marking the second leg of a back-to-back series in California.
In a nod to the history of North American sports car racing, this event is themed as “Throwback Weekend,” encouraging teams to adopt classic and retro-inspired liveries.
The competition will feature 11 GTP teams, 14 GTD teams, and nine GTD Pro entries. Among the notable driver changes, Earl Bamber returns to Cadillac Whelen’s #31 V-Series.R following his absence at Long Beach due to commitments in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in Imola. He will team up with Jack Aitken, as Action Express Racing aims for its sixth consecutive GTP podium.
Tom Gamble of Heart of Racing Team is also back, partnering with GTD points leader Eduardo Barrichello in the #27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo.
Additionally, other teams have made strategic driver substitutions: Scott Andrews will race for Van der Steur Racing in the #19 Aston Martin in place of Valentin Hasse-Clot, who is racing in the European Le Mans Series. Conquest Racing has enlisted Lorenzo Patrese to fill in for Manny Franco in the #34 Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo.
This robust race weekend will also include supporting events featuring the Michelin Pilot Challenge, Mustang Challenge North America, and Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America.
