2026 Road to Le Mans Set for Competitive Field and Format Changes

A robust 58-car grid is confirmed for the 2026 Road to Le Mans, a premier event in the Michelin Le Mans Cup. The entry list includes 26 LMP3 vehicles, 15 LMP3 Pro/Ams, and 17 GT3s, marking a significant influx with 13 additional participants joining the 45 full-season entrants.

The LMP3 category consists of 20 Ligier JS P325s and six Duqueine D09s, highlighted by Rinaldi Racing’s one-off entry, featuring Alvise Rodella. Notably, Nielsen Racing’s #4 Duqueine D09 and Ajith Redant Racing’s #36 Ligier have transitioned from LMP3 Pro/Am to LMP3.

Team Virage’s #16 Ligier shifts to LMP3 Pro/Am, competing under the ‘Ajith Redant by Virage’ banner, with Ajith Kumar and Romain Vozniak. Kumar’s prior seat has been filled by Aditya Patel alongside Narain Karthikeyan.

Additional LMP3 Pro/Am entries include teams such as DKR Engineering, Team Virage, Ultimate, CLX Motorsport, and M Racing, all utilizing the Ligier JS P325.

In the GT3 class, seven additional cars expand the grid to include six manufacturers. Notable entries comprise GetSpeed’s #14 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO and High Class Racing’s #45 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo. AF Corse has introduced two Ferrari 296 GT3 Evos, while Blackthorn adds a second Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO. Team WRT fields a BMW M4 GT3 Evo and a reserve-entry McLaren GT3 EVO by United Autosports bolsters competition.

The 2026 Road to Le Mans will feature a new format, consisting of a single three-hour race on June 12, 2026, replacing the previous pair of 60-minute sprints. This race will reward 1.5x standard points. Additionally, qualifying will now take place during a single 60-minute session on June 11, addressing prior challenges with excessive interruptions.

This restructured event promises to enhance both competitiveness and spectator engagement leading into the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans.
