74th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Preview
Sebring, FL – The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship resumes this weekend with the 74th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, a critical endurance test renowned for its grueling challenges. After an exhilarating Rolex 24 at Daytona, which showcased diverse competition, teams from all classes are gearing up for what is often considered a more demanding event despite being half the length of its predecessor.
Sebring’s abrasive surface and unpredictable conditions significantly increase both mechanical stress and driver fatigue. The race, commencing Saturday at 10:10 AM ET, features a quintessential daylight to dusk transition that can profoundly impact race strategies and outcomes.
GTP Class Dynamics
Porsche aims to capitalize on its Daytona win, led by the #7 Porsche 963 crew of Felipe Nasr, Julien Andlauer, and Laurin Heinrich, who currently top the GTP standings. Their main competitors include Cadillac Whelen’s #31 V-Series.R, piloted by Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber, and Frederik Vesti, who finished second in this event last year by a narrow margin. Wayne Taylor Racing’s #40 Acura, featuring the returning combination of Jordan Taylor, Louis Delètraz, and Colton Herta, is also expected to contend.
Notably, the event welcomes back previous winners: Porsche dominated the 2025 edition with a 1-2 finish and is equipped to battle again with lighter 963s compared to last year.
LMP2 and GT Class Insights
In the LMP2 category, Inter Europol’s #43 ORECA, fresh from commendable performances at Daytona, looks poised to defend its class title against formidable rivals, including CrowdStrike Racing’s #04 entry. The LMP2 field is highly competitive, with four different winners over the past four Sebring events.
The GTD Pro class features reigning champions Winward Racing seeking to maintain their momentum amid stiff competition, including Paul Miller Racing’s Daytona-winning BMW and a strong presence from Corvette Racing.
Additionally, new entrants like the #9 Pfaff Motorsports Lamborghini Temerario GT3 will make their race debut, drawing anticipation after extensive preparation in prior test sessions.
Coverage and Viewing Options
The race will be streamed live on the official IMSA YouTube channel and available in the U.S. on Peacock, followed by NBCSN coverage beginning at 5:00 PM ET.
As teams strategize under the Florida sun, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring promises to be a critical stage in the 2026 championship, with potential implications for the season’s trajectory.
