British GT Championship: Brands Hatch Preview (23-24 August 2025)

The 2025 British GT Championship enters a critical phase this weekend with its penultimate round at Brands Hatch, featuring a two-hour endurance race on the demanding Grand Prix circuit.

Track Conditions and Significance

The 2.43-mile circuit presents challenges, notably the steep descent into Paddock Hill Bend, which elevates the stakes during the race start. Teams will prioritize qualifying, as the high-speed layout requires precision, offering little room for mistakes.

With 13 GT3 and 8 GT4 entries, the spotlight is on 2 Seas Motorsport, who currently dominates the GT3 standings with the #42 and #18 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evos.

Current Standings and Key Competitors

2 Seas Motorsport leads the championship, with Kiern Jewiss and Charles Dawson holding the top spot on 118 points, despite carrying a 25 kg ballast. Their teammates Maximilian Götz and Kevin Tse trail closely in second, but face a 20-second pit stop penalty that complicates their bid for victory.

Jonny Adam and Giacomo Petrobelli, driving the #7 Aston Martin Vantage, are just one point behind the #18 Mercedes. Adam’s experience—recently marking his 20th GT3 win—coupled with four prior victories at Brands, makes them a formidable threat.

Barwell Motorsport’s Alex Martin and Patrick Kujala in the #78 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 remain competitive, though both Lamborghini entries face pit stop penalties that could hinder their efforts.

Additional strong competitors include Optimum Motorsport’s #77 McLaren GT3 Evo and Team Abba Racing’s Richard and Sam Neary in the #8 Mercedes-AMG, who are returning after a brief hiatus.

Battle in GT3 Silver-Am and GT4 Classes

The GT3 Silver-Am standings tightened, with Bridger Motorsport’s Jonny Ip and team principal Jay Bridger now just 3.5 points behind Beechdean AMR’s Andrew Howard and Tom Wood, who lead thanks to a full participation record.

In the GT4 category, the race features a competitive clash between #17 Optimum McLaren and #14 Century BMW, both eyeing the Silver Cup title.

Race Schedule

The weekend kicks off on Saturday, 23 August, with practice at 09:30 followed by qualifying at 15:55. The race day on Sunday, 24 August, will start with a warm-up at 10:00 and the main event at 13:30.

As the championship intensifies, Brands Hatch promises a decisive impact on title trajectories, making this weekend crucial before the final showdown at Donington Park.
