Cadillac Racing Seeks Third V-Series.R for 2026 Le Mans
Cadillac Racing aims to bolster its presence in the Hypercar category for the 2026 Le Mans 24 Hours by adding a third V-Series.R. Keely Bosn, head of Cadillac’s sportscar division, confirmed plans to file an entry for one of the three V-Series.Rs currently racing in the IMSA GTP series, complementing Hertz Team JOTA’s two-car full-season FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) effort.
The primary focus is on selecting the IMSA team eligible for this additional entry. Action Express Racing expresses interest in returning to Le Mans for the fourth consecutive year, while Wayne Taylor Racing seeks to build on its debut last year. “We race as one team… to give every car we bring to Le Mans the best chance to win,” Bosn stated, underscoring the collaborative spirit among Cadillac’s partnered teams.
In 2025, Cadillac fielded four Hypercars, marking a significant presence with a total of seven cars across two classes. However, expanding to a fourth V-Series.R is currently considered unlikely due to budget constraints. Bosn remarked, “At this point in time, anything is possible,” signaling ongoing discussions within General Motors regarding this potential move.
Cadillac remains unique among manufacturers contemplating an additional entry for Le Mans, as rivals such as BMW and Team WRT prioritize consolidating their new North American operations before considering further expansions. Meanwhile, Ian James, team principal of Aston Martin THOR Team, indicated there are no current plans for a third Valkyrie entry.
Porsche Penske Motorsport and Acura Meyer Shank Racing have expressed interest in competing, but neither can file for entries, as their respective manufacturers do not field two full-season cars in the FIA WEC Hypercar class. Despite Porsche’s GTP championship status, the decision to end its factory WEC program for the 2026 season hampers any additional entries.
As of now, IMSA has yet to announce which organization will secure the automatic invitation to Le Mans. The motorsports community awaits further developments as Cadillac Racing focuses on the upcoming Daytona event, maintaining a commitment to competitive excellence at the world-renowned endurance race.
