CrowdStrike Racing Dominates in Dubai: Asian Le Mans Series Weekend Recap
CrowdStrike Racing by APR capped a successful weekend at the Asian Le Mans Series, securing victory in the second race of the 4 Hours of Dubai. The trio of George Kurtz, Malthe Jakobsen, and Louis Delétraz showcased their strength, following up Saturday’s win with another commanding performance.
In LMP2, strategy played a pivotal role as Sami Meguetounif’s #20 Algarve Pro Racing ORECA 07 opted for no tire changes during the final pit stop. This gamble initially positioned him ahead, but Delétraz outmaneuvered Meguetounif at Turn 11 with just 19 minutes remaining. Delivering a flawless performance, Delétraz held off Tom Dillmann in the closing laps to clinch victory by 1.638 seconds, marking Algarve Pro Racing’s fourth consecutive series win in Dubai.
Meguetounif ultimately finished fourth, behind championship leaders Roberto Lacorte, Charles Milesi, and Antonio Fuoco in the #47 Cetilar Racing entry.
In LMP3, a dramatic finish saw 23Events Racing’s #71 Ligier JS P325 take the win. After recovering from a mid-race setback, Matus Ryba surged from third to first, securing victory on the penultimate lap. Meanwhile, Inter Europol Competition faced misfortune, with issues on the grid lap relegating their #13 Ligier to eight laps down.
GT racing marked a historic moment for Team WRT, as the #69 BMW M4 GT3 Evo triumphed in their first Asian Le Mans Series race. Anthony McIntosh, Parker Thompson, and Dan Harper executed a strategic race, with Harper holding off Laurin Heinrich’s #87 Origine Motorsport Porsche to finish 0.881 seconds ahead.
Antares Au, Klaus Bachler, and Loek Hartog took third in their Manthey Porsche, while Kessel Racing’s #74 Ferrari 296 GT3 extended its championship lead by finishing fourth. Manthey’s #92 Porsche rounded out the top five.
The Asian Le Mans Series concludes its season next weekend at Yas Marina Circuit with another pair of four-hour races.
More to follow as the championship reaches its climax.
