COTA Hosts Exciting Round of GT World Challenge America and Pirelli GT4 America
Circuit of the Americas (COTA) has set the stage for the second round of the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS, featuring a robust entry list of 22 cars for this Sunday’s three-hour main race. The event will spotlight several new teams and drivers making significant debuts in this competitive series.
Among the standout entries is Rebel Rock Racing, debuting its #71 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo. The team, led by experienced drivers Frank Depew and Robin Liddell, transitions from the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge to the full-time GT3 class, aiming for success in the Pro-Am category.
Triarsi Competizione also returns, bringing back its #18 Ferrari 296 GT3 with Ferrari Challenge driver Sebastian Mascaro and experienced GT driver Riccardo Agostini. This marks a nostalgic comeback for the team, which has roots in GT World America.
Kellymoss’ #88 Porsche 911 GT3 R, previously withdrawn from Sonoma due to a crash, resumes its Pro-Am campaign with drivers John Gilliland and Loek Hartog. Additionally, Mad Joker by Lone Star Racing joins the Am class with their #11 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, driven by Marc Austin and Jason Golan.
Notably, Chicago Performance & Tuning’s #64 Lamborghini will skip this round due to driver availability, while Chouest Povoledo Racing’s #50 Corvette is expected to participate only in practice sessions.
Pirelli GT4 America Overview
COTA also hosts the Pirelli GT4 America’s Lone Star Enduro on Saturday evening, which will feature 28 entries. RAFA Racing’s #68 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, piloted by Westin Workman and Tyler Gonzalez, dominated the Sonoma opening round, winning both 60-minute sprint races and positioning itself as a favorite.
BMW continues its strong performance at COTA, having secured consecutive wins in the Pro-Am and Am classes during previous Lone Star Enduros. BimmerWorld Racing’s Tyler McQuarrie aims for a third win alongside co-driver Michael Petramalo in the #38 BMW M4 GT4 EVO.
Currently leading the Pro-Am standings are Matt Travis and Matheus Leist in their #47 NOLASPORT Porsche, following a victory in Race 1 and a solid finish in Race 2. In the Am class, Random Vandals Racing’s #188 BMW, driven by Judson Holt and Ross Stripling, is at the forefront after sweeping both Sonoma races.
Frankie Muniz, making his GT4 debut, looks to build on a promising start with a runner-up finish in the Am class at Sonoma, partnering with Tyler Stone in the #30 TechSport Racing Ford Mustang GT4.
