Alpine Motorsports Sees Leadership Shift Ahead of 2026 Season
Bruno Famin has officially stepped down as Vice-President of Alpine Motorsports, coinciding with significant structural changes within the Renault Group’s racing programs. Famin, who joined Alpine in 2022, departs as the organization prepares to end its FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and Dacia’s World Rally-Raid Championship efforts by year’s end. Axel Plasse, currently Vice-President of Alpine Tech, will assume Famin’s responsibilities, including oversight of the Hypercar program.
This transition follows a recent endurance test for the Alpine Endurance Team at Motorland Aragón, where the updated A424 Hypercar demonstrated notable advancements. With a comprehensive aerodynamic overhaul and adaptations for Michelin’s new 2026-spec tyres, the team completed over 3,000 kilometers of testing, marking the first joint engagement of both driver crews.
Philippe Sinault, team principal, commented on the test, “We focused particularly on aerodynamics and tyre understanding, benefiting from representative top speeds and varied track conditions.” He expressed optimism about the results, highlighting the positive correlation work achieved with the drivers.
Sporting director Nicolas Lapierre praised the rapid integration of new drivers, Victor Martins and António Félix da Costa, into the team dynamic. “The six-driver line-up is working very well together, building strong team spirit both on and off track,” he noted. Lapierre sees the upcoming season opener at Imola—where the team secured a podium finish in 2025—as a promising start.
As Alpine gears up for the 2026 season, further testing is scheduled at Spa-Francorchamps in early April, emphasizing the team’s proactive approach to refinement and preparation.
