FIA World Endurance Championship Unveils New Docuseries Ahead of 14th Season

As the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) gears up for its 14th season in Qatar next month, it has launched a new YouTube docuseries titled Beyond the Track. This ten-episode series delves into the personal stories of the individuals who contribute to the success of the championship, capturing the often-overlooked human element of endurance racing.

Filmed over seven months during the 2025 season, Beyond the Track follows various roles within the paddock, including drivers, engineers, mechanics, strategists, and support staff. The series emphasizes the intricate connections between these roles and the collaboration essential for achieving victory.

Viewers are granted behind-the-scenes access to team garages, pit walls, and the emotional challenges faced by team members, who frequently spend extended periods away from home. The docuseries touches on significant narratives within the championship, including Aston Martin’s quest for its first Le Mans victory in almost 70 years and Mercedes’ challenges during its inaugural campaign.

Key figures featured in the series include amateur racer Ben Keating, who balances his racing ambitions with life on a Texas ranch, and BMW’s René Rast, who shares insights on maintaining youthfulness in a demanding sport. Additionally, Michelle Gatting of the Iron Dames candidly discusses the dynamics within her all-female team, revealing the complexities of team relationships.

In her own words, Gatting remarked, “I wanted to kill her because she drives me crazy,” highlighting the intense emotions tied to competition.

The first episode of Beyond the Track premiered on the FIA WEC YouTube channel, with new episodes set to be released weekly. The series aims to provide fans and stakeholders with an in-depth understanding of the WEC community as it prepares for the upcoming season.
