Ford Mustang GT3 Clinches First Championship Title in ADAC GT Masters
In a landmark achievement for Ford, the Mustang GT3 secured its inaugural championship at the ADAC GT Masters season finale held at Hockenheimring. The Haupt Racing Team, backed by Ford Racing, triumphed in the team standings, while drivers Finn Wiebelhaus and Salman Owega claimed the drivers’ title, accomplishing the feat with a race to spare.
The duo showcased consistent performance throughout the season, tallying two wins and four podium finishes in the first eleven races. They further solidified their dominance with an additional victory during the final race, concluding a standout year for the #1 Mustang GT3.
Owega expressed pride in the team’s achievement, stating, “It can’t get any better, and the hard work paid off for the entire team.” Wiebelhaus echoed this sentiment, highlighting the Mustang’s speed and improvements made throughout the season.
The Haupt Racing Team recently entered into a multi-year agreement with Ford Racing after previously racing with Mercedes-AMG. In 2025, they campaigned the Mustang GT3 across four series, including the DTM and Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS).
Looking ahead, the Mustang GT3 is poised for more success, competing for the IMSA Sportscar Championship’s GTD PRO Manufacturers’ crown at the upcoming Petit Le Mans. Haupt Racing Team also aims to conclude its debut season with the Mustang on a high note at the NLS and GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
As development continues, Ford is set to introduce an Evo kit for 2026, building upon a season that has already seen victories at the 24 Hours of Daytona and a fourth-place finish at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
