Kenny Habul Leads Final Practice for 12 Hour Race

In a commanding performance, Kenny Habul secured the top spot in the final practice session for the upcoming 12 Hour race, clocking a best lap of 2:04.9062 in the #75 Express Mercedes. This impressive time placed him six-tenths ahead of the competition.

The #55 Jamec Racing Audi, piloted by Brad Schumacher, followed in second with a time of 2:05.50, while Brett Hobson completed the top three in the #45 RAM/GWR Mercedes, also achieving a time of 2:05.50.

The session concluded under a red flag following a significant crash involving the #7 Team NZ Aston Martin GT4, driven by Graeme Dowsett. The Aston Martin sustained considerable rear damage after colliding with the #21 Herberth Motorsport Porsche. The incident occurred at Sulman Park, where Dowsett’s attempt to pass resulted in contact that sent the Aston Martin into a spin and into the wall. Fortunately, Dowsett was unharmed and exited the vehicle without assistance.

Completing the top five was Cunfan Ruan in the #89 Team KRC BMW, who posted a time of 2:06.04, and Fabio Babini in the #79 Tsunami RT Porsche.

While most teams enjoyed productive sessions, the #42 Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 faced issues, spending over ten minutes in the garage due to suspected overheating problems.

Looking ahead, Saturday’s schedule features two one-hour practice sessions at 07:00 and 09:00 AEDT, followed by qualifying at noon and the Pirelli Pole Battle at 15:15 AEDT.
