Jack Hawksworth Reaches Milestone at Sebring

Sebring, FL – This weekend, Lexus factory driver Jack Hawksworth achieves a significant career milestone as he competes in his 100th race with the brand at the iconic Sebring International Raceway. Over his decade-long tenure, Hawksworth has amassed 11 wins, 32 podiums, and 13 pole positions in IMSA competition, exemplifying his consistency in a rapidly changing motorsport landscape.

Reflecting on his journey, Hawksworth acknowledged the surprise of reaching this landmark: “It took me by surprise a bit. I had no idea (about the 100th race) until our PR team informed me a week ago. It’s just a number, but to have started 100 races with the same manufacturer is cool.”

Hawksworth’s transition to sportscars came after a challenging stint in single-seaters, where he competed in IndyCar and won the Star Mazda championship in 2012. Since joining Lexus’ GT3 program in late 2016, he has been integral to its development, racing with teams such as 3GT Racing and Vasser Sullivan Racing.

Current statistics show Hawksworth as a cornerstone of the Lexus effort: “You can link me with the start of the program,” he stated, proud of the team’s evolution and competitiveness. Vasser Sullivan, bolstered by co-drivers Kyle Kirkwood and Ben Barnicoat, heads into Sebring with strong historical performances, having achieved notable finishes in recent years.

The #14 Lexus RC F GT3 faced challenges in the season opener at Daytona, finishing 10th due to a straight-line speed deficit. However, Hawksworth remains optimistic, stating, “This weekend is a fresh start. Sebring is more representative of the series, and we plan on being in the fight.”

As the team aims for a strong finish at Sebring, the upcoming transition to the Toyota GR GT3 means this race serves as a pivotal moment for the RC F GT3. Hawksworth concluded, “Overall, we feel like we’re a better race team this year, and we’re hoping for a turning point after Daytona.”

With the race set for Saturday, Vasser Sullivan’s performance will be closely watched as they seek to add to their legacy with the outgoing RC F GT3.
