Mikkel Jensen Exits Team Peugeot Ahead of WEC Finale in Bahrain
Mikkel Jensen’s tenure with Team Peugeot’s Hypercar program will conclude at the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 8 Hours of Bahrain, marking his 26th race aboard the 9X8. Jensen, who has been instrumental in Peugeot’s journey since 2022, will drive the #93 alongside Paul Di Resta and Jean-Eric Vergne.
Jean-Marc Finot, Senior VP of Stellantis Motorsport, praised Jensen’s contributions: “He helped build this project, always stood firm during challenging times, and, together with his teammates, delivered three world-level podiums.”
Jensen’s departure comes amid rumors that he will join McLaren’s Hypercar program, set to debut in 2027 after extensive testing with United Autosports. “Sometimes it’s time for a change,” Jensen remarked. “It’s been an incredible journey… Let’s enjoy the last one together this weekend in Bahrain and finish the chapter on a high!”
This announcement adds to the ongoing reshuffling within the WEC as teams prepare for the 2026 season. Notably, Jensen follows Stoffel Vandoorne, who exited post-Fuji but may return next year, while Nick Cassidy and Theo Pourchaire are confirmed for 2026. With possible driver returns and limited race seats, Peugeot’s roster decisions will be critical as the new season approaches.
As the WEC’s silly season unfolds, the implications of these shifts will be closely monitored by industry insiders.
