Brands Hatch, Kent — In a gripping showdown at Brands Hatch, 2 Seas Motorsport’s Kiern Jewiss and Charles Dawson clinched victory in the #42 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, fending off relentless pressure from Marvin Kirchhöfer in the #77 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO. This win bolstered their championship lead to 28.5 points ahead of the upcoming season finale at Donington Park.
The race saw Dawson execute a commendable opening stint, advancing from sixth to fourth, which set the stage for Jewiss’ impressive drive. After inheriting the lead during the second hour as rivals served success penalties, Jewiss displayed poise during a critical ten-minute sprint that followed the final safety car deployment.
Dawson remarked on their strong start, highlighting a strategic drive: “We weren’t taking too many risks knowing our rivals had penalties. It’s about maintaining track position.” Jewiss added, “We managed to hold off Marvin, and we’ll need more of that luck at Donington.”
Hugo Cook and reigning champion Rob Collard secured the final podium position in the #1 Barwell Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2. The race began with Petrobelli in the #7 Aston Martin grabbing an early lead, but a drive-through penalty derailed his momentum.
The safety car intermissions—first for a stranded GT4 car and later due to a fire in a rival machine—created opportunities for the field to regroup. Petrobelli’s resilient recovery was notable, as he regained positions to finish fourth, just ahead of Beechdean AMR’s Andrew Howard.
Meanwhile, the #18 2 Seas Mercedes faced challenges, finishing seventh, affected by a 20-second success penalty and a less-than-ideal performance relative to their teammate’s race.
GT4 Highlights
In the GT4 category, Luca Hopkinson and Harry George achieved their maiden win in the #17 Optimum Motorsport McLaren Artura, capitalizing on an early lead after the #84 Mahiki Racing Ginetta caught fire, forcing its retirement.
George expressed his satisfaction: “It feels like a long time coming… starting P1 and finishing there is a dream come true.” Championship leaders, the #90 McLaren, faced an untimely demise on lap one, affecting their title race standing but leaving the competition open for the decider at Donington.
Team Parker Racing secured their first podium this season with a third-place finish, while the #69 Mahiki Ginetta faced penalties that impacted their race but still showed commendable speed.
As the championship heads into its final round, both GT3 and GT4 classes promise intense battles, with crews and drivers eager to capitalize on their Brands Hatch performances.
