Luca Magnussen to Transition to GT Racing in 2026 with Paddock Motorsport

Luca Magnussen, son of acclaimed driver Jan Magnussen, has confirmed his move to GT racing, set to compete in the McLaren Trophy Europe starting in 2026 with Paddock Motorsport. The announcement highlights a significant step in the 16-year-old’s racing career, building on a strong debut season in the GB4 Championship, where he secured a podium finish at Oulton Park.

Magnussen will shift from the Tatuus GB4 to the McLaren Artura Trophy Evo, emphasizing his ambition to build on his family’s motorsport legacy, which includes notable achievements from his father and brother Kevin. “My dream has always been to drive GT cars,” said Luca, revealing aspirations to participate at Le Mans alongside his brother.

The transition includes adapting to the Artura, which features advanced technologies such as ABS and traction control, absent in his previous vehicle. “When I first tested the Artura at Silverstone, it was a remarkable experience with huge power and grip,” he noted.

Paddock Motorsport plans to expand its efforts in the McLaren Trophy Europe, following a successful campaign that secured multiple class wins and an Am class title in the current season. This expansion, supported by a partnership with Douglas Motorsport, is designed to provide a seamless transition for drivers from single-seaters to GT racing.

The 2026 season kicks off at Monza from May 29-31, with all five rounds scheduled to support the GT World Challenge Europe. Magnussen stands as the first confirmed driver in what promises to be a competitive lineup for Paddock Motorsport.
