Mahiki Racing’s Promising Start Hampered by Technical Failure at Silverstone

In a disappointing turn during the second round of the 2025 British GT Championship at Silverstone, Mahiki Racing’s #84 Lotus Emira GT4, driven by the young pairing of Aiden Neate and Josh Miller, faced a crucial setback due to a mechanical failure. At just 19 and 18 years old respectively, Miller and Neate represent the youngest team on the grid and had shown considerable potential in previous rounds.

Neate initially led the three-hour race but was forced to retire with a left-rear suspension toe link failure with 1 hour and 20 minutes remaining. Post-race, Miller reflected on the incident: “It was ultimately our race to win, but through the fast section of Turn 2 (Farm Corner), it looks like something broke on the rear of the car, and there’s nothing Aiden could do about it."

The team’s strategy for a potential recovery was thwarted by the extent of the damage. “The toe link’s failed on the rear axle, and when that happens, there’s no saving it,” Miller added, emphasizing the need for consistent finishes in the competitive British GT series.

Previously, at Donington Park, the duo had displayed strong performance, starting from pole position before a lengthy pit stop dropped them to P6 in the GT4 classification. Despite the setback at Silverstone, the #84 Lotus had been leading significantly over its competitors during the race, benefiting from two safety car periods.

The #69 Lotus from Mahiki Racing also faced difficulties, with driver Steven Lake stopping suddenly in the pits, marking it as the second GT4 class DNF at Silverstone. The team will look to regroup at the upcoming Oulton Park event, where the first two sprint rounds of the 2025 season will take place.
