Sven Müller Eyes Podium as British GT Championship Continues at Oulton Park
This weekend, Sven Müller will resume his inaugural campaign in the British GT Championship at Oulton Park, driving the #66 Team Parker Racing Porsche 911 GT3.R alongside co-driver Nick Jones. The experienced racer, a former Porsche Supercup champion, is optimistic about securing podium finishes as the season unfolds.
Background and Performance
Müller has an extensive history in sports car racing, including participation in prestigious events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans and series such as the ADAC GT Masters and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. He recently achieved a victory at Zandvoort in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup, marking a strong return to form.
Team Parker Racing is embarking on its first full season with the latest Porsche model, having faced challenges already—particularly at the season opener in Donington, where the team finished 22nd after sustaining aerodynamic damage. Nonetheless, they showed improvement at Silverstone, finishing 15th out of 21 GT3 entries.
Upcoming Challenges
Despite familiarizing himself with new circuits such as Donington and Oulton Park, Müller is confident in his ability to adapt. “We’ve been testing, and so far, they’ve been quite fun,” he said, acknowledging the stiff competition from international drivers like Maxi Götz and Marvin Kirchhöfer.
The team aims for individual standout results rather than targeting the championship. Müller will miss the Spa race due to commitments at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, where Harry King will replace him. He emphasized the importance of focus in their remaining races, stating, “If we do a good job, a podium is possible.”
Oulton Park’s tight layout poses a challenge, but offers double the opportunity for success with two one-hour races scheduled. Müller’s experience and recent successes suggest that he and Team Parker Racing could break into the top ranks this weekend.
