Paul Miller Racing Unveils Retro Livery for Monterey Championship

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca – In a nod to motorsport history, Paul Miller Racing has unveiled a special throwback livery for their #1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO ahead of the StubHub Monterey SportsCar Championship. The design pays homage to the iconic 1975 BMW 3.0L CSL, a vehicle that marked BMW’s entry into North American sports car racing.

This classic CSL livery not only evokes nostalgia but also serves as a reminder of the vehicle’s success, including a victory at the 1975 Twelve Hours of Sebring, driven by legends Hans-Joachim Stuck, Brian Redman, Allan Moffat, and Sam Posey. Two months later, at the Monterey Triple Crown, Stuck secured pole position and recorded the fastest lap in the first of two heat races, ultimately taking a win in the second.

In a social media announcement, BMW M Motorsport highlighted the significance of this retro theme: “For Laguna Seca, the #1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO honors the iconic 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL. Fifty-one years ago, Hans-Joachim Stuck dominated this track in these colors. Now, as GTD Pro championship leaders, Neil Verhagen and Connor De Phillippi are here to finish the story.”

Currently, Verhagen and De Phillippi sit tied at the top of the GTD Pro standings alongside Manthey drivers Klaus Bachler, Ricardo Feller, and Thomas Preining. With Manthey opting out of IMSA sprint rounds, the closest competitor remains the #4 Corvette Racing Z06 GT3.R, driven by Tommy Milner and Nicky Catsburg, trailing by 30 points.

As the championship battle unfolds at Laguna Seca, eyes will be on the #1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO and its quest to echo the dominant legacy of its forebear.
