Porsche Unveils Next-Generation 911 Cup Car for 2026 Season

Porsche has officially announced the upcoming launch of the new 911 Cup race car, set to debut in the 2026 season of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and select national and regional Carrera Cup series. Development of the new model, based on the current 992.2 generation, commenced in January 2024 and is nearing completion, with production slated to begin this autumn.

Key enhancements include improved aerodynamics at the front end, which aim to enhance drivability. Significant upgrades have also been made to the Flat-6 engine, transmission, vehicle electronics, and brake systems, contributing to overall better handling performance.

"We are already operating at a very high-performance level with the current GT3 Cup," said Jan Feldmann, Project Manager for GT racing cars at Porsche Motorsport. "This has allowed us to focus more on feedback from the global one-make cups and develop a racing car that has been refined in many areas compared to the current Cup 911."

Testing for the new 911 Cup has been conducted at various circuits, including Monza, Lausitzring, and the Weissach test track, by Porsche drivers such as Bastian Buus and Klaus Bachler. Notably, testing has involved a new eFuel blend developed under FIA Appendix J requirements for advanced sustainable fuel.

The new model will replace the existing 992.1-generation GT3 Cup car, which debuted in 2021 with a production run of 1,130 units. To date, Porsche has manufactured a total of 5,381 911 Cup cars, establishing it as one of the most successful racing cars in history.

The new 911 Cup car will compete in the Porsche Supercup, 12 national and regional Carrera Cup events, and across 23 Porsche-sanctioned Sprint and Endurance Challenges globally.
