Proton Competition Consolidates Motorsport Operations Under a Single Banner
Proton Competition has announced the retirement of the Huber Racing and Proton Huber names, consolidating all its racing efforts under one banner for the forthcoming season. This strategic rebrand aims to streamline operations across various racing categories, including the LMGT3 program with Ford in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), LMP2 entries in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), Asian Le Mans Series, and the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans, alongside multiple Porsche GT and one-make programs previously associated with Huber Racing.
Team principal Christian Ried confirmed that while the team’s two Porsche 963 Hypercars remain inactive, they are maintained in readiness for potential testing and forthcoming competition, including the Asian Le Mans Series. Future participation in the WEC’s top class is contingent upon Porsche’s updated motorsport strategy.
These changes mark the beginning of Proton Competition’s first season without Christoph Huber, who stepped down as managing director in August 2025 after nine years of leadership. The partnership between Proton and Huber Racing, initiated in 2024, has led to significant growth, culminating in the team winning the 2023 24H Series European teams’ title.
Ried stated, “No other team offers drivers the chance to progress within a single team from the Porsche one-make series through GT3 racing to the LMP and Hypercar classes. The development of Proton Competition and the addition of the Huber Racing team in Hofkirchen have been essential in this regard.”
These developments underscore Proton Competition’s commitment to fostering drivers’ progression in elite motorsport and enhancing its competitive edge across multiple racing disciplines.
