Craven and Koch Claim Victory at GT4 Lone Star Enduro
Austin, TX — The third annual GT4 Lone Star Enduro concluded at the Circuit of the Americas with a dramatic finish, as Sam Craven and Kenton Koch from Random Vandals Racing secured victory in their #94 BMW M4 GT4 EVO.
Race Overview
Westin Workman started strong, placing the #68 RAFA Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 on pole. Following their previous successes at Sonoma Raceway, RAFA Racing’s team looked poised for another win. Workman led the opening stint before handing over to Tyler Gonzalez, who maintained a six-second lead until a Full Course Yellow for the stranded #21 ACI Motorsports BMW reset the field.
However, RAFA’s hopes were hindered during their second pit stop when a transponder issue cost them over 30 seconds. After the stop, Workman found himself in tenth position overall, while the #51 AutoTechnic Racing BMW, driven by Francis Selldorff, took the lead.
The lead changed hands again when Luca Mars in the #028 RS1 Porsche 718 GT4 RS Clubsport overtook Selldorff, leading until the final stages of the race.
Dramatic Conclusion
In the closing ten minutes, an aggressive move from Kevin Boehm of AutoTechnic Racing resulted in a collision with Pumpelly’s RS1 Porsche. This miscalculation allowed Koch, who was in a tight four-car Pro-Am battle, to capitalize and surge into the lead, ultimately winning by just under two seconds. Koch’s performance not only clinched the overall victory but also provided Craven and Koch with the Pro-Am points lead, now totaling 75 points to their closest competitors’ 73.
