2025 DTM Red Bull Ring: Race Summary

Race 1:

René Rast secured a commanding victory in the first DTM race at the Red Bull Ring, propelling him to the top of the drivers’ championship standings. Starting from second, Rast quickly overtook pole-sitter and teammate Marco Wittmann on lap three, subsequently maintaining and extending his lead throughout the race.

Jack Aitken, who began the race in second place, was the first among the leaders to pit for fresh Pirelli slicks on lap 15. This strategy enabled him to overtake Wittmann late in the race. However, Aitken’s hopes for a podium were dashed when he skidded off the track on the final lap, resulting in a DNF.

Maro Engel of Mercedes-AMG Team WINWARD benefitted from Aitken’s mishap, finishing fifth behind Rast, Wittmann, Thierry Vermeulen, and Ben Green.

“It feels huge to be leading the championship after not expecting to win,” Rast noted post-race. “This victory was a testament to our teamwork, especially with the quick pit stop.”

Race 2:

In a turbulent second race, Ricardo Feller conquered the track to claim Land-Motorsport’s inaugural DTM victory. The race commenced with early incidents, including punctures for both Thomas Preining and Aitken.

Feller, after starting behind pole-sitter Vermeulen, overtook him on lap 13 and surged ahead, leading convincingly post-pit stops. Auer regained ground after an initial drop, ultimately finishing third.

“I am incredibly proud to have secured Land-Motorsport’s first win. I fought hard against Vermeulen, refusing to let anyone take first place from me,” Feller stated after his victory.

Auer’s podium finish elevated him to first in the drivers’ championship, with nine contenders still in the title race heading into the season finale.
