Levente Révész Secures 2025 International GT Open Title at Monza
In a thrilling season finale at Monza, Levente Révész of Team Motopark clinched the 2025 International GT Open drivers’ championship with a second-place finish in the Monza 500KM. This achievement marks Révész’s first title in GT3 racing, solidifying his rise in the sport.
Révész commenced the race from pole position in the #11 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, following a penalty that demoted championship rivals Simon Reicher and Christopher Haase in the #1 Eastalent Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II to seventh on the starting grid. However, the young Hungarian experienced an early setback, dropping to third as Tom Lebbon took the lead from the second row in the #17 Elite Motorsport Ferrari, with Carl Bennett in the #51 296 GT3 close behind.
The race took a turning point during the first pit stop, as the Elite Motorsport team lost position to AF Corse, allowing Tommaso Mosca to emerge with a three-second advantage. Over the subsequent laps, Mosca extended his lead to 14 seconds, leading the #51 Ferrari to its fourth win of the season, while Bennett and Mosca secured second place in the drivers’ standings.
Révész’s co-driver, Maximilian Götz, executed a decisive move during the second round of pit stops, allowing them to finish the race 7.805 seconds behind the winners and secure the drivers’ championship for Révész and the teams’ title for Motopark.
“I feel ecstatic, it has been a great year and a great team effort,” said Révész. Götz added, “This was truly a team achievement, and I feel proud to have been associated with such a talented young driver.”
The podium was completed by Lebbon and Emson in third, while Reicher and Haase finished fourth, closing out the drivers’ championship in fourth and third place, respectively. The top five was rounded out by the #33 Greystone GT McLaren GT3 Evo, driven by defending winners Dean MacDonald and James Kell.
In Pro-Am, Bashar Mardini and Alex Fontana triumphed in the #89 Tsunami RT Porsche 911 GT3 R, while SPS Automotive Performance’s Valentin Pierburg and Dominik Baumann claimed the Pro-Am championship with a strong third-place finish. Fontana’s last-lap pass on the #8 Garage 59 McLaren of Benjamin Goethe secured their victory.
Mark Sansom and Marco Pulcini won the Am class in the #188 Garage 59 McLaren, although they fell short of the championship, which went to Gino Forgione and Michele Rugolo from the #21 AF Corse Ferrari. The two Am teams traded the class lead multiple times but ultimately finished tied on points, with the Ferrari duo claiming the title after dropped scores.
The 2026 International GT Open season is set to kick off at the Autódromo do Algarve, Portugal, from April 17 to 19, 2026.
