SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm Makes GT2 European Series Debut with Mercedes-AMG GT2s

Monza, Italy – SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm will enter the 2026 GT2 European Series, fielding two Mercedes-AMG GT2 cars in the Pro-Am category. The team has appointed David Thilenius and Wilhelm Kühne as the Bronze-rated drivers for their entries.

Thilenius, who joined Schnitzelalm in 2022, has primarily competed on the Nordschleife. Kühne, the 2025 GT4 Winter Series drivers’ champion, made his debut with the team last season. Both will be making their first appearance in the GT2 European Series.

While this marks the team’s debut in the GT2 European Series, SR Motorsport has prior experience with the AMG GT2, having competed at the 2023 Nürburgring 24 Hours and recently winning its class at the GT Winter Series’ 6 Hours of Portimão.

Notably, Mercedes-AMG is a registered manufacturer in the SRO GT Academy. This opens the door for the yet-to-be-announced Silver-graded drivers to compete for a fully-funded seat in the 2027 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, contingent on them being under 30 years old.

Thomas Angerer, team principal, stated, “The GT2 European Series is a great racing series for our gentleman drivers… it’s a superb opportunity for our talented young Silver drivers to gain visibility through the SRO GT Academy.”

The 2026 GT2 European Series will commence at Monza from May 29 to 31, 2026.
