Lance Stroll to Make GT World Challenge Europe Debut
Aston Martin Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll will compete in the GT World Challenge Europe, making his debut next weekend at Circuit Paul Ricard. Stroll will share the #18 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo with fellow rookies Roberto Merhi and Mari Boya, marking a one-off entry from the 2024 24 Hours of Spa-winning team. The trio will participate in the Pro class.
The opportunity for Stroll’s GT3 debut has arisen due to the postponement of the Bahrain Grand Prix. The 27-year-old driver has limited GT experience, having previously raced in a prototype at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2016 and 2018.
Merhi, 35, brings substantial GT experience, having competed in Super GT’s GT300 category for the last three seasons. Boya, a Prema FIA Formula 2 driver, is set to make his first appearance in sports cars.
The #18 Aston Martin is part of a competitive 59-car grid for the upcoming season opener, which will feature 18 Pro entries. The six-hour race is scheduled for April 10-11, 2026.
Updates will follow as the event approaches.
